The frontal walls are fifteen feet thick. Kumbhalgarh has seven fortified gateways. There are over 360 temples within the fort, 300 ancient Jain and the rest Hindu. One can behold the spectacular scenes of Thar Desert from the fort walls. On top of the fort is the Badal Mahal Palace. It is decorated with beautiful rooms with pleasant color schemes of turquoise, green and white, which provides a mesmerizing view of the fortress.

Apart from the fort, kumbhalgarh is also known for its rich natural wildlife zone. Kumbhalgarh wildlife sanctuary takes name after the historic fort of kumbhalgarh as it surrounds the fortress and covers an area of 578 km2 (223 sq meters). The sanctuary extends across the Aravali Range, covering parts of Rajsamand, Udaipur, and Pali district, ranging from 500 to 1,300 meters (1,600 to 4,300 ft) elevation. Tourist here can ride on horseback in the reserve and the best time to visit the park is from October to June. It is the home of some rarely found wild life species. The wild life includes wolf, leopards, sloth bear, hyena, jackal, jungle cat, sambhar, nilgai, chausingha (the four horned antelope), chinkara and hare. The bird life at Kumbhalgarh is also worth to visit.
